The web site continues to grow as time and travel schedules allow. The most recent addition is the “Photo Gallery.” This is an on-line photo album of the club’s events throughout the year. This is going to be an ongoing project as pictures are taken and collected. Right now you can already find pictures from this year’s Kirchweih, Luau, and L.A. competition. This is a nice way to share what we do with the community at large and the comments in our guestbook indicate that the photos are a welcome addition.
As the holiday season approaches we have added more online German shopping links. These can be found under German Links: The German Connection: Shopping. There is an interesting selection of German products from clothing and handicrafts to music and videos.
We were recently given a new statistics program for our site, which offers better information about who is coming to our site, among other things. Many people who come to our site are searching for information about German culture ranging from German wedding traditions (our most popular request!) to German Christmas traditions. Right now these questions are being handled on an individual basis by members of the club who have their e-mail addresses listed under “Contact Us.” An upcoming project is to create a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page to respond to the more common questions. If there is anyone who would like to write content for a Wedding or Christmas traditions page, please get into contact with me at Sandra.Christian@lhm.org.
A fun fact about the DKV web site since July 1, 1999: We have received the most visits from the following 10 countries (in the order of frequency): the US, Australia, Germany, Canada, UK, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, Estonia, and Mexico!
