From our Web Site

Greetings everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that effective March 2003, Nick Messmer will be taking over as Webmaster for the German Cultural Society’s web site. Please communicate with him on any web related issues from that point on.

I want to thank everyone for your cooperation and support these past three and a half years. I am very glad to have had this opportunity to help establish our web presence and watch it grow. As my family prepares for the coming of its newest member at the beginning of July, I find that I am unable to continue in the capacity of Webmaster.

I extend my sincerest thanks to Nick for his willingness to expand his horizons in this venture. Please give him the same support that was given to me.

Sincerely,
Sandra Christian

the house that Sandy built

The formation and the beginning of our web site are fairly well documented. Newsletter articles reported about that, and they eventually found their way to the newsletter section of our web site, where they still can be seen. What is not so well known is how much clear and logical thinking was required to create the core of the structure, followed by the almost never-ending effort to build the web site according to that plan. Sandra Christian – better known as Sandy to most of us – was the architect and the builder of our web site; www.germanstl.org is truly the house that Sandy built. To see, how well it was done in the view of others, just take an occasional look at the guestbook: compliments abound from near and far.

As Sandy prepares for the arrival of the newest member of her family, we have agreed that I would take on all web-related activities after March 1. The fact that most of the information needed to keep the web site current is first created at the newsletter level, should be helpful; but should I ever need real help, I know, Sandy will be there.

And so, personally and collectively, our best wishes are with her and her family as she brings a new life into this world, and we thank her for all the work she did in establishing the presence of the German Cultural Society on the world-wide web.

Nick Messmer
